VBAC — Vaginal Birth After Cesarean in Houston, TX
If you have had a previous cesarean section, you may be a candidate for a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) in a subsequent pregnancy. VBAC is a medically viable option for many women and can reduce recovery time compared to a repeat cesarean. At Pristine Ob-Gyn, our providers evaluate each patient individually, review prior surgical records, assess risk factors, and work with you to make an informed decision about your delivery plan.

VBAC Candidacy & What We Evaluate
Frequently Asked Questions
About VBAC
VBAC candidacy depends on the type of uterine incision from your prior cesarean, the reason for that cesarean, your current pregnancy health, and delivery facility capabilities. Your Pristine Ob-Gyn provider will review your records and discuss your options.
The most serious risk is uterine rupture, which is rare but more likely in women with a prior classical (vertical) uterine incision. For women with a low transverse incision, VBAC success rates are 60–80% according to ACOG guidelines. Your provider will help you weigh risks and benefits.
If labor does not progress safely, your provider will perform a cesarean section. The decision is made in real time based on your and your baby's wellbeing.
